Frequently Asked Questions
I don't know how to pose. WIll you help me?
Absolutely! As a boudoir photographer in Albany, NY, I invest a lot of time and energy studying, attending workshops and learning how to pose people of all shapes, sizes, age, physical limitations, etc. All you need to do is show up and be prepared to smile, laugh and feel beautiful. I am confident that you will enjoy your session and leave feeling like you can take on the world.
Will you share my imAGES?
Boudoir photography is intimate and personal. Not a single image will be shared with anyone without your permission. Every beauty you see on my website or instagram page felt amazing and decided to grant me permission to use them. What if I change my mind? That is perfectly OK, you can give me permission and then later decide you would like them private and they will be removed upon your request. I value you as a client more than I do sharing images, your privacy is extremely important.
Um...A male boudoir photographer?
Yes, lets address this. You bet, I am a male boudoir photographer, I am also a happily married man with two children that happens to love photography and creating art. I photograph women, couples as well as men. For me this is about creating art and making you feel absolutely amazing and beautiful. Some people prefer a male photographer, some do not, that is entirely up to you. I understand if you have concerns, but I promise you will feel safe, confident and relaxed. However, if this is something that you are not comfortable with, I will be happy to introduce you to one of my amazing woman photographer friends that would be more than happy to help. This session is about you and you being absolutely relaxed and comfortable. I guarantee a professional, fun and supportive atmosphere that you will truly enjoy. If it helps bring a girlfriend along and shoot together or just have her there for support, she is more than happy to sit and chat, have a glass of wine, encourage and support you.
Where will we be shooting?
We have lots of options, I have an in-home boudoir photography studio that we can use. My wife and I purchased an old farm house built in the late 1700’s not far from Albany, NY. We are situated on a hill across from a small lake we have been renovating the for what seems like forever, I’m not sure it will ever be truly complete. We converted a room that provides lots of natural light and also features a fireplace. If you have other ideas or locations I am completely open to those as well, we can shoot outside at a special place that is near and dear to you, your home, an AirBNB we have endless options.
What is the investment?
A boudoir photography experience begins at $350 for the session, which includes professionally styled hair and make-up, a relaxed, fun and confidence building photoshoot. I will help guide you through the entire experience and make sure you end up with amazing photos that you cherish forever, Even more important though you will leave your session feeling absolutely beautiful and with newly found confidence. I offer albums, digitals and stunning aluminum wall art. These are in addition to your session fee. I would welcome the opportunity for an in-person consultation to help walk you through the process and get to know you.
There are areas that I am self-conscious about, will you photoshop them?
This is probably one of the most important questions I get asked. The short answer is no, I will not edit you so drastically that it no longer looks like you. I will do touch-ups, remove some skin blemishes or things that just do not look right. My general rule of thumb is if you have a mark on you that will be gone in 3-6 months, I will remove it. With that said, a boudoir session is not to make you look skinnier, more muscular, heavier, more tan or whatever you feel you need, this is about making you feel beautiful just as you are. It is up to me as a photographer and my team of professional hair and make-up artists to make you look and feel amazing. Trust me, I am fully aware of not liking certain things about ourselves, I am no exception to that, so lets discuss what you like and what you do not like. I will use this information to pose you in a way that accentuates certain areas or help hide those areas you do not like. However, I think by the end of the session you will be super confident and not at all worried about what you might consider a 'problem area'.
